In this seminar, Dan Horowitz will explore the new world of social media, Zoom, 10 second conversations, detached relationships in the context of old school traditions of the trial lawyer as actor, orator, entertainer and communicator. Horowitz will argue that we can harness the new technologies and understand the new brain structures of the digital generation while preserving the moral and emotional connection that defined the great trial lawyers and made these actor warriors a driving force for change and social justice.
As trial lawyers, your focus is – as it should be – on the pre-trial and trial phases of litigation. But if it becomes apparent that your case is headed for an appeal, being proactive can make the difference between success and failure. What are the most important things that trial lawyers need to know, in order to best position their cases for appeal – either as appellant or appellee?
• Protecting the Record
• Knowing when to Appeal
• Appeals to the California and United States Supreme Courts
• Appellate Traps and Pitfalls for the Unwary
• Understanding Writs
